Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Guidance Department serves as an advocate for students. It is committed to helping every student succeed academically, socially, and emotionally throughout high school. It assists students in adjusting to high school life academically, socially, and emotionally. It helps students realize their full potential and develop study strategies for lifelong learning. It helps students deal with difficult personal issues. It operates within Catholic doctrine and the school's mission to support student well-being, and it helps prepare for standardized tests and the college application process.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Prout School acknowledges that students may have disabilities in learning, emotional, physical, or other health-related areas. For students admitted with a documented disability, including an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan, or private school plan completed within the last year, or a neurological or psychology evaluation within the last 3 years, The Prout School offers an Academic Support Service with basic strategies and academic skills to help realize their full potential. The school's inclusive community recognizes the additional challenges these students face. The school supports a four-year college-preparatory curriculum; IEPs/504s are under the jurisdiction of public schools, and as a private school The Prout School is not legally required to implement them or modify its curriculum to accommodate specific needs, but it offers reasonable accommodations on a case-by-case basis dependent on resources. Accommodations may include additional time on major tests (up to time and a half), a distraction-free testing environment, preferential seating, and refocusing cues. The Inspire Program welcomes students with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and developmental disabilities into the school community with an inclusive, modified curriculum, specialized instruction, and mentors to support them academically, socially, and spiritually.

Mental Wellbeing

The Campus Ministry helps students grow in their own identity, relationships with others, and their relationship with God. It upholds the teachings of the Gospels and Catholic faith and strives to be a tangible witness to Christ on campus. The door is always open for student involvement in a variety of programs. Liturgy and spiritual life include monthly Mass, daily morning prayer, Advent and Lent prayer services, and opportunities to experience the liturgical year through prayer services and assemblies, plus the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent and daily class prayers. Service, Charity, Justice & Peace activities offer opportunities to serve, connect with local charities, and participate in fundraisers and service trips, with the Campus Ministry Council helping to plan these opportunities. Class retreats, including Peer Ministry-led retreats, are held annually, and faculty also participate in retreats. For more information, contact the Director of Campus Ministry.
