It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The school has more than 1,100 students from preschool (PS) to terminale. It is located in Hanoi, Vietnam, and was established in 1982. It is managed directly by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). Recent posts include author visits and autumn festival activities for early years, as well as student-led cultural projects.
The school emphasizes multilingual education through Parcours langues, aiming for mastery of at least three languages in addition to French. EMILE provides English-taught instruction for certain disciplines, with DNL offerings in History-Geography at the secondary level. Since 2023, the school offers a Section Internationale Américaine for 6e and 2nde, with the first BFI examinations at the baccalaureate in 2025; international sections support bilingual and bicultural education.
Extracurricular activities are an integral part of school life. The school's activities include chess, with the U11 team winning the Asia-Pacific Chess Championship 2025 in Bangkok and other teams performing in regional events. A range of extra-curricular programs and clubs are described on the AES pages, including community arts and other student-led activities.
Extracurricular activities are an integral part of LFAY's life, reflecting the school's emphasis on student engagement beyond class time. The school participates in events such as Journée de la Résilience 2025, organized in cooperation with the AEFE network. These activities illustrate the school's social and cultural engagement within the local community.
Orientation is supported by a dedicated Parcours Avenir, guiding students from middle school through terminale with input from the school leadership and teaching staff. External contributors, including Campus France, participate in orientation activities to aid students' decisions about higher education and careers. The school provides an orientation space in the library and a designated CPE-PRIO contact for guidance.
The school offers extensive sports facilities: an 8-meter climbing wall, a 25-meter swimming pool, a gym, a dojo, a multisport hall, a rugby/football stadium, and a running track. A cafeteria, Oxygen, has been part of campus life since 2022, and a monthly menu is published for students in maternelle, élémentaire, and secondaire. The school day runs from 8:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.
