English is the teaching medium at The American School. An English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is provided; elementary EAL is integrated into classroom lessons with an Assistant Teacher, and a dedicated EAL Coordinator oversees the program. All new students whose mother tongue is not English take a WIDA English Language Proficiency assessment before starting, with placement determined by the EAL team and counselors; EAL support is provided for Grades 6–9, and TAS does not provide EAL programs for Grades 10–12. Vietnamese classes are available as tutoring with associated fees.
The American School – Ho Chi Minh City serves students from Pre‑Nursery to Grade 12 (ages 1–18) on a spacious campus in Thu Duc City.
