Languages taught at WASS centre on English and Vietnamese; the bilingual program uses both languages for instruction from early years through Year 9, while WA International programs deliver instruction primarily in English. French is available as an IB Diploma Programme subject. English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) support is offered for non-native English speakers. The school maintains a multilingual library with English, Vietnamese, and other language resources to support language development.
The Bilingual Program at WASS provides instruction in both English and Vietnamese. It covers students from Year 1 to Year 9, combining the Vietnamese MOET bilingual program with three Australian curriculum subjects—English, Mathematics, and Science—so teaching time is shared between the two programs. Vietnamese and English teachers work closely, and lessons are linked to the Unit of Inquiry to help students connect concepts across languages. From Year 10 to 12, students study English with native speakers and Vietnamese teachers to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing toward IELTS level 5.5 or higher; students may also pursue AP or SAT pathways, and the school has pursued authorization for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
The Integrated Vietnam-American Bilingual Program (VAP) is offered for Kindergarten through Grade 8. In this program, elementary and junior high students learn core subjects in English (including English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences) using standards such as CCSS, NGSS, AERO, and various state standards. Vietnamese MOET subjects remain, and specialist subjects support broader learning. The VAP provides a pathway toward the American Diploma Program and supports building advanced English proficiency and familiarity with American culture and assessment practices.
The Western Australian International School System (WASS) is a multi-campus international school network in central Ho Chi Minh City. It delivers Western Australian and international qualifications, with a pathway from the Western Australian Early Years Program through WA Curriculum Partial–Integrated Program, WAce International, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school emphasizes English-language instruction, a broad extra-curricular program, and a diverse student body from many nationalities. WASS is accredited by SCSA, IBO, and CIS, and operates across five campuses to support students from age 2 through Year 12.
