The Western Australian International School System (WASS) was established in 2011 by the Indochina International Education Development Group (IEDG). It began with 49 students and has since expanded to multiple campuses in central Ho Chi Minh City. In 2019, WASS was recognized as an IB World School and began implementing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program for senior students. WASS earned accreditation from the Western Australia School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) and joined the Council of International Schools (CIS) as part of its international accreditation trajectory. The network has grown to five campuses in central districts of Ho Chi Minh City, and by 2020-2021 served around 2,500 students across its campuses.
WASS hosts a multicultural community with students from over 20 nationalities, and English is the primary language of instruction. The school engages families through a variety of community and project-based activities, including student projects and city-wide competitions such as the Ho Chi Minh City – The Smart City project in 2017. WASS also collaborates with local higher education institutions, including the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, to support enrollment and scholarship opportunities for WASS students.
WASS maintains a structured parent communications framework that includes a Parents Handbook and a Parent Portal. Weekly communications are shared with parents to outline study plans and teacher comments. Parent Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are organized every semester to discuss a student's development with teachers. Parent Orientation Programs (POPs) and Curriculum Showcases are conducted for new parents to induct them through the year's programs. The WASS community also highlights family engagement through events such as Journey Home – A Merry Christmas Journey to foster community spirit.
