Admissions

2. Application forms and fee. NCIS requires parents to complete and sign the NCIS Student Application Form and the NCIS Medical History Form and submit them to the school. The non-refundable Application Fee is RMB 2,300. Payment does not guarantee admission.

3. Supporting documents. Academic records must be in English; translations are the parents' responsibility if records are not in English. One year of academic records is required for Grade 3 and below; two years are required for higher grades. A photocopy of both parents' and child's passport and visa information is required. Five passport photos are needed; vaccination records; records of any Special Educational Needs testing.

4. Language assessment. The Admission/Registration Office will schedule an English assessment for the applicant and, if needed, tests in Chinese and Mathematics for higher grades. An ESL support program may be provided for students with limited English proficiency, either within the regular class or in a separate class for at least one semester. The school reserves the right to limit the number of ESL students to 20% of each class.

5. Admission decision and notification. After the assessment, the Admission/Registration Office informs the parents of the outcome and whether admission can be offered. Admission is based on the school's ability to meet the child's emotional, social, physical, and academic needs, and a Principal's approval may be required for placement exceptions.
