Special Educational Needs (SEN)

SBS offers a Special Education Needs Programme (SEN) with one of the largest teams of Special Educators and an inclusive education approach along a continuum. The Learning Support Programme identifies strengths and challenges and provides differentiated instruction, modifications and accommodations, with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) created in collaboration with parents, counselors and therapists. The Adapted Curriculum maintains CBSE alignment while tailoring learning approaches and promoting social integration, with transition to mainstream classrooms when ready. The Functional Curriculum is delivered in a small-group setting (low 1:6 ratio) with multisensory spaces to develop practical, prevocational skills and daily living skills. Speech Language Therapy (SLT) and Occupational Therapy are provided, including AAC options and assistive technology, to support language, communication and broader development, alongside counselling as needed.

Mental Wellbeing

SBS prioritises comprehensive wellbeing through a robust physical education programme and mindfulness programmes. Mindfulness initiatives address the mental and emotional aspects of wellbeing, with self-reflection opportunities and teacher mentoring to foster resilience and emotional intelligence. The Counselling and Wellness team offers individual and group sessions to support mental fitness and holistic development. The SEE Learning Curriculum is integrated across subjects to promote social, emotional and ethical learning in daily life. The Senior School Programme emphasises wellbeing alongside college readiness and leadership development through mindful practices and student-led initiatives.
