There are only a small number of IB-authorised international schools in Laos, and most are concentrated in the capital, Vientiane, so families relocating outside the city should expect fewer IB options. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is the most widely available IB programme in the country, while only one school currently advertises the full Middle Years and Diploma continuum. Instruction is primarily in English, with Lao taught as a language and bilingual or Lao-support options offered at several schools. Annual fees vary widely by provider and age group - published schedules at Vientiane schools range from several thousand US dollars up to the mid-twenties of thousands per year for older students - and admissions generally follow the international school calendar, so start enquiries early and have school reports, vaccination records and visa documentation ready when you apply.
