Aberdare College is a bilingual, secular school in San Miguel offering Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary education. Cambridge IGCSE curriculum is used at Secondary level. Opened in 1997, Aberdare College provides a demanding education for a diverse student body, with arts, sports, and extracurricular activities helping students understand themselves and develop their potential within a framework of honesty, simplicity, and kindness. In the early years, Montessori-inspired practices promote autonomy, curiosity, and creativity, with prepared environments and materials that foster independence—physically, emotionally, and psychologically. The school supports bilingualism through English and Spanish instruction. Distinctive features include Castles leadership model, with Castle Captains and Monitors coordinating cross-age activities, and a fifth-year emphasis on IGCSE Enterprise projects to identify opportunities, plan, budget, pitch, produce, and sell products and services. The arts and sports program is central, highlighted by Play, Visual Arts through Art Intercastle, and participation in competitions such as chess tournaments and literary events.
