Language learning opportunities and multilingual education

Language Provision

Spanish and English are the languages taught across Kinder, Primary, and Secondary. English is used for many subjects to deepen language use, and French is taught as a third language in Secondary. The school offers Cambridge international examinations (CAE, CPE, IGCSE, AS/A Levels).

Bilingual Teaching

Barker College runs a full-day bilingual program. The Barker Bilingual Project has two languages coexisting in a single curriculum, with English used across core subjects and addressed in both writing and speaking. English is introduced naturally in the early years, with dual-language schooling available from the three-year-old group and mandatory from age four.

Immersion Programs

Two languages coexist in a single curriculum; English is the language of instruction for many subjects, reflecting a bilingual immersion approach while Spanish remains the other language of instruction across the school.
