Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Robotics is a pillar of Belgrano Day School's approach, developing computational thinking, problem solving, reading and understanding diagrams, experimentation and report writing, and collaborative, autonomous work. In P5 and P6, students are introduced to programming with a RobotGroup kit to build a car-robot and program it using Minibloq on an Arduino board; P6 students begin using sensors to measure distance, sound and light and incorporate kit components to build automata with MakeCode and Micro:bit. Younger students develop foundational computational thinking through mouse use, Typing games, and programmable robots such as Bee Bots, and use Code.org, Scratch JR, Scratch and Kodable. These initiatives are part of Media & ICT Literacy across the curriculum to foster independent thinking and creative problem-solving.

Arts and Creative

Belgrano Day School has outstanding achievement in art, drama and music production. Arts are central to the model, with Arts Week and Open Arts Evening offering exhibitions, performances and interactive experiences for students and families. Kinder Play is a colorful year-end show that reflects the learning process and achievements. Open Arts Evening features projects across Kinder to Senior, including design and 3D printing, Graphic Design, Literary Art & 3D Printing, and a range of musical performances by Junior and Senior Choirs, percussion ensembles and the BDS Orchestra.

Cultural and Language

Belgrano Day School is bilingual and coeducational. An early immersion English Programme operates from age two in Kinder, led by fully bilingual teachers. In Kinder, English and Spanish materials and ICT are integrated, with tablets and a wide variety of digital materials used in both languages. Cambridge Early Years CEY accreditation was officialized on October 25, 2024, and the school also hosts international exchanges such as a US high school study abroad program with CIEE.

Social and Hobbies

The school maintains a strong athletic program with rugby, hockey, volleyball and football, and inter-house competitions take place during Athletics Sports Day. Pupils belong to House teams North, South, East and West for internal competitions. Senior teams undertake international sports and cultural tours to countries including Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Interhouse activities also include events such as the Interhouse Photo Contest 2025.

Community and Service

BriDgeS is the social action project that tethers Belgrano Day School to the wider community, building bridges between people and social realities. Solidarity is a core value, cultivating compassion, empathy and generosity to promote peaceful coexistence. Concrete actions include fairs and charitable events, volunteering and NGO partnerships to educate students as engaged citizens and future leaders for the common good.

Leadership and Professional

ACAP BDS provides Experiences of Approaching the World of Work and Higher Education to bring senior students closer to professional and academic paths. In 2024 S5 and S6 participated in 35 activities and 9 workshops, totaling 11,783 hours of practice across productive, academic-scientific, sociocomunitary and public policy sectors. The program included visits to architecture and design studios, law and accounting firms, technology companies and universities, and collaborations with organizations such as Globant, JPS Argentina and Adidas. Workshops for the future and public policy were added, and partnerships with NGOs and universities supported professional skills development.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Physical Education & Sports emphasizes healthy living and well-being as foundations of character. Teams in rugby, hockey, volleyball and football regularly compete in intercollegiate tournaments, and inter-house Athletics Sports Day celebrates the season. Senior teams undertake international sports and cultural tours to countries such as the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa to broaden horizons and foster resilience.
