In 1981, in a stately house on O'Higgins Street in the Belgrano neighborhood, inspired by teacher Estela María Irrera de Pallaro and with the support of her husband Andrés Pallaro, a kindergarten was founded that later became Islands International School. Years later, with much effort, clear goals and dedication, the primary school came to life, today located in a large building on Virrey del Pino and Arcos Streets. In 1988, closely following the most advanced programs in Argentina and the world, the secondary section was created, currently located on Amenábar Street. A building was constructed with the spaces and equipment necessary to meet the needs of a modern education. In 1990, Islands also included the International Baccalaureate in its programs, a prestigious association of schools based in Geneva, Switzerland. One of the most important objectives is to promote the integral development of students so that they can harmoniously acquire the skills needed for admission to higher education and, consequently, to the increasingly demanding world of work. Therefore, it is important that they achieve fluency in Spanish, English and Italian. Passing the International Baccalaureate diploma also means that students obtain the Maturità Linguistica o Scientifica, a qualification recognized by the Italian Government as completion of secondary education and acceptance to university at the European level.
Islands International School is a multi-campus international school in the Buenos Aires area that serves learners aged 3 to 18. It offers an IB continuum, including the Primary Years Programme and the Diploma Programme, alongside Cambridge Primary and Cambridge IGCSE, supporting a bilingual or multilingual education. The school emphasizes fluency in Spanish, English and Italian, and its graduates may earn the Maturità Linguistica or Maturità Scientifica, qualifications recognized by the Italian government for completion of secondary studies and entry to European universities. The secondary section is housed on Amenábar Street, with purpose-built spaces and equipment to support modern teaching. Islands operates Belgrano, Virrey del Pino, Berazategui and Pilar campuses, enabling diverse community experiences across locations. The program encourages students to successfully pursue higher education globally, while maintaining Italian linkage through language and examinations. Art, cinema and sports are integrated within the curriculum and extracurriculars, enriching students' personal and academic growth.
