Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Lycée Franco-Argentin Jean Mermoz has provided bicultural and humanist education for more than 60 years. The program culminates in the Argentine Bachillerato and the French Baccalaureate, with an optional English-language European section. It belongs to an international network of more than 600 French schools abroad, educating nearly 400,000 students in 138 countries, and is part of AEFE, the Agency for French Education Abroad. From kindergarten through lycée, the educational project is recognized by the French Ministry of National Education and by the Buenos Aires City Ministry of Education. Linguistic diversity is at the heart of the project, with instruction in French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Chinese and Latin, fostering an open, international outlook.

Community

From kindergarten to high school, linguistic diversity and multicultural education are central to the project, opening students to languages and cultures. The school offers instruction in French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Chinese and Latin, preparing students for a plurilingual, multicultural world. It is a hub of cultures and exchanges: a dynamic community with diverse nationalities and origins, enriched by trips, international projects and educational outings. A wide range of activities stimulates talents, including sport, theatre, arts, cinema and audiovisual, music, civic engagement and ecology.

Parent-Teacher Association

Amicale des Parents du Mermoz (Mermoz Parents' Association) is a non-profit civil association composed of parents of students, founded in 1989. Its members actively participate in school life, both within formal bodies and in councils and working groups proposed by the administration. They organize actions, activities and events that strengthen the sense of belonging to the Mermoz community and consolidate ties with other French-community associations in Argentina. Lycée Franco-Argentin Jean Mermoz is a French international school in the AEFE network, welcoming students from ages 2 to 17. It offers bicultural, humanist education culminating in the Argentine Bachillerato and the French Baccalauréat, with an optional European English section. The curriculum is multilingual through three language pathways: the Spanish Language International Section for early years to CM2, ELCE for 6e to 3e, and SELO from 2nde to Terminale, supporting a continuous route to the baccalaureate. The school is located in Buenos Aires and is recognised by the French Ministry of National Education and by the Buenos Aires City Ministry of Education. With over 60 years of history, LJM fosters intercultural understanding and linguistic diversity across French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Chinese and Latin.
