Founded in 1898 in Quilmes by Rev J. T. Stevenson, St George's College has a history spanning more than 125 years. The Old Georgian Club formed, creating a lasting alumni network, and the Pavilion was built in honour of King George V's coronation. The cornerstone of the chapel was laid and the Assembly Hall was constructed, while a new section of the College expanded educational offerings. The school adopted a house system (Lockwood, Farran, Agar, and Cutts), opened the Primary School, introduced science laboratories, and became coeducational, welcoming 30 boarding and day female students. In 1990, St George's College North opened in Los Polvorines, broadening the northern presence; in 1998 the Boarding House expansion began.
An Exchange Programme develops global citizens by offering immersive experiences in another culture and enhancing English with native speakers, while welcoming host students enriches the community with new perspectives and traditions. The school is one of the few Latin American institutions authorised to offer the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels; the program comprises four components and increases in complexity at each level, fostering personal development, resilience, and a spirit of adventure. The programme attracts numerous students annually.
St George's College North sits on an eight-hectare campus in Los Polvorines and has educated students since 1990. It operates within a two-campus structure with Quilmes and North campuses, offering a bilingual, international education for ages 1 to 18. The school is an IB World School, delivering the IB Primary Years Programme and Diploma Programme, alongside Cambridge IGCSE and a bespoke curriculum. The Los Polvorines campus emphasises a dynamic learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. A distinctive feature is the school's international profile, supported by the Exchange Programme that matches English speakers and host families for immersive cross-cultural experiences. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is offered in Bronze, Silver, and Gold, encouraging resilience and service. The House System builds community, while the Old Georgian Club and a campus museum preserve the school's historical lineage. Mixed boarding is offered at the Quilmes campus, reinforcing an inclusive community.
