Admissions Process

Process of Admissions – St. Matthew's College. The school views choosing a school as one of the most important decisions families make. The school values the interest in its educational proposal. When a new student joins the community, a long‑term bond is established between the school and the family, transcending academics. This alliance must be based on alignment between family values and goals and the school's holistic proposal. In the first in‑person meeting with the Admissions Department, the educational mission is presented, the heart of the project. The fundamental purposes guiding our actions are detailed, and the aspects in which we place special emphasis are highlighted. We begin to build a bond with families with the aim of determining whether our educational proposal is the best fit for the applicant and their family environment. Admissions timeline: Applications are received via an online form on the school site for entry in the next academic cycle until vacancies are filled, in accordance with the maximum number of students established for each group. If there are no vacancies, applicants who have completed the admissions process may join a waiting list. To grant the vacancy, consideration will be given to: the family's alignment with the Institutional Ideology, the availability of vacancies, and the results of entrance activities conducted by the applicant and the Guidance Department, which promotes the applicant's wellbeing. Admission priority: Siblings of students and children of alumni have priority; students who come from the other campus of the school (Founder or North) and families returning from the interior of the country or abroad; provided vacancies exist and applicants have completed the admissions process. Admission process: 1. Families must request an interview via an online form. 2. A first interview will be scheduled to provide information about the educational project, the general organization, the fees, etc., and a tour of the facilities; both legal guardians must attend. 3. After this interview, families must express their intention to continue with the admissions process. 4. Families will receive additional information and documentation to complete. 5. A face‑to‑face meeting will be scheduled to conduct entrance activities with the applicant, tailored to their developmental stage. For this step, families must digitally present the previous year's school reports; reports from external professionals may be requested if necessary. During this process the vacancy is not guaranteed, nor is the applicant enrolled. 6. Once all requirements are met, the school will communicate the result, confirm vacancy availability, and email the enrollment form to be presented physically at the school. Families have 48 hours to pay the enrollment reserve. 7. Documentation to present: the applicant's ID and birth certificate (original and copy), enrollment form signed in original by both guardians, and the original debt‑free certificate from the previous school (signed and sealed). Incoming students may request a “Transfer Request” to deliver to the current school, where they will receive a “Transfer Certificate.” 8) The placement of incoming students in existing courses is a joint decision of the leadership team, the Admissions Department, and the Guidance Department. 9. The school reserves the right of admission and permanence. Families coming from abroad: They must comply with the regular admission process. Once admitted, the director will verify the validity of the studies, the necessary equivalences, and the grade or year to attend, which must be approved by the authorities of the Ministry of Education. IB Diploma Programme admission: The Diploma Programme is taught in the last two years of secondary school. All students undertake the Diploma Programme and complete both internal and external assessments for the six chosen subjects, as well as the core components: the extended essay, CAS, and Theory of Knowledge (TdC). To enter at the start of the Diploma Programme, students must have a satisfactory academic record and have passed admissions steps. For students joining in the second year from another IB World School, IB transfer regulations apply. For students from a non‑IB school, they must commit to working independently with support from St. Matthew's to cover content seen in the first year and to complete the internal assessments scheduled for that year. Senior School orientation: The choice of orientation (Visual Arts, Social Sciences, or Economics and Administration) in Senior School depends on vacancy availability. International trips and tours: Students enrolled in grades/years where trips/tours are in process may request participation, subject to available capacity after regular enrollment and the availability of flights, hotels, activities, and ground transportation at the time of request. Go to the Admission Form. Founder Campus: Moldes 1469, CABA; Pilar Campus: Caamaño 493, Pilar; Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00–16:00.
