Villa Devoto School was founded in 1908 by a group of English immigrants living in Villa Devoto. In its early years it was led by two English women, Alice Pope Ogan and Mary Sheaburn White, and operated in family houses. In 1912 the Anglican chapel Villa Devoto Church Hall opened on Lacar 4232, and classes began there in October 1912, with no confessional affiliation. In 1955 Mrs Kathleen Miles became headteacher, guiding growth from 120 to 500 students. In 1965 a non-profit civil association, the Asociación Civil Villa Devoto School, was formed as the owner, and on July 14, 1982 the association elected its first board.
Villa Devoto School maintains a house system rooted in its British origins to foster team spirit and participation in sports and academic contests. The four Houses—Kent, York, Gloucester, and Windsor—were established by 1940. New students join a House on entry, and the assignment extends to siblings and relatives who inherit the color. Houses are led by House Captains, Prefects, and School and Sports Captains, with leadership elected annually; they unite families across generations, linking parents, children, and grandchildren through a shared Villa Devoto School identity.
Amigos de Villa Devoto School is the Parents Association associated with Villa Devoto School, which produced ViDaS Amigas to inform the community about various aspects of school life. ViDaS Amigas began publication in 1974, with editions continuing through 2000. The association also produced alumni communications such as the Boletin del centro de ex-alumnos (1994, 1998). The school is owned by the Asociación Civil Villa Devoto School, formed in 1965, whose first board was elected on July 14, 1982. These parent and alumni activities actively engage the school community.
Villa Devoto School is a bilingual English-Spanish, secular, coeducational institution serving ages 2 to 18. Founded in 1908 by English immigrant families in Villa Devoto, it preserves a link with England while embracing its Argentine context. The curriculum blends Cambridge International Examinations (PET, IGCSE) from primary with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the final two years. Classes are taught in English and Spanish, using a constructivist, communicative approach to language and intercultural understanding. In Primary, technology is integrated across the curriculum with internet-enabled PCs, tablets, an ICT lab, interactive screens and a bilingual library, all supported by the Orientation Team. Drama Workshop and a yearly musical for 4th–7th grade complement core subjects such as History, Science, Literature and Literacy. Cambridge exams certify levels A1, A2 and B1 in 3rd, 5th and 7th grades. The four Houses—Kent, York, Gloucester and Windsor—foster teamwork and leadership, with students taking on roles such as captains and prefects.
