The Shirakatsy Lyceum International Educational Complex was founded in 1990. In 1998 Middle School was established and the first grade of the Primary School was formed under its first teacher and director Tatevik Vatyan. In 2010 the Lyceum became the first in the region to become a full member of the Round Square International Schools World Association. In 2011, by government decision, the Primary, Middle, and High Schools were reorganized into a complete educational complex and began implementing the International Baccalaureate program; the Primary School was accredited to implement the IB Primary Years Program in 2013 and the High School Diploma Program in 2014. Since July 2022, Shirakatsy Lyceum has been a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
The Lyceum community hosts events including International Women's Day and celebrates student achievements such as winners in the “100 Ideas for Armenia” competition. Lyceum students and staff participate in Round Square conferences, and Science Week features exhibitions and activities that showcase student work. Jubilee year events include family-led activities, such as climbing Mount Masis and raising the Lyceum's flag on Ararat.
Shirakatsy Lyceum International Educational Complex in Armenia educates students aged 3–18 within an IB framework alongside a national program. The Primary School follows an integrated RA state curriculum and implements IB PYP for ages 3–10. The Middle School uses IB MYP for grades 5–10 to prepare for grades 11–12 and for both the National program and the IB DP. The High School offers the National Program and an English-taught IB Diploma Program for grades 11–12. Founded in 1990, Lyceum joined Round Square in 2010 and CIS in 2022, emphasizing international exchanges and service. On campus, students access laboratories for Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, a library with 27,000 eBooks and 15,000 hard copies, a Multimedia Center with a Conference Hall, plus a Concert Hall, Gymnasium, Dance Hall, and a Sports Ground with a tennis facility. Support services include Counseling, Medical, Dormitories, and two-week Summer Camp; university counseling and enrichment activities are offered.
