DISV was founded in 1992 by Mr. and Mrs. Biber as a school for their own children and later opened to the wider community. It has Öffentlichkeitsrecht, recognizing the Austrian state from the start. DISV was Vienna's first fully accredited IB World School, authorized to offer the IB programmes PYP, MYP and DP. Over the decades, it has evolved into a diverse learning community known for inclusivity and a warm, supportive atmosphere. Today, DISV remains family-owned and family-led and prepares students for success at universities worldwide.
DISV's community is diverse, with families and staff from more than 60 nationalities, creating a sense of belonging and intercultural understanding. The school connects students, families, alumni, and partners through PADIS, community events, and service-learning initiatives. Parents, students, and teachers collaborate in mutual respect and shared purpose, celebrating achievements and supporting one another through events, performances, and international celebrations. Life at DISV is vibrant, inclusive, and full of opportunities to connect.
PADIS is the Parent Association of Danube International School. PADIS plays a vital role in Elementary School life, organizing social gatherings, cultural events, and fundraising initiatives that strengthen connections within the DISV community. Students participate in community and service projects that foster empathy, leadership, and global responsibility. DISV life includes events such as sports day, service-learning collaborations, and the annual International Day, all supported by PADIS. PADIS activities involve and energize families, supporting classroom life and fostering partnerships between families and the school.
