Health and Care (HC) is an elective with two weekly hours in 6th and 7th grade. It focuses on mental health and stress management, childhood and adolescence development, health in old age, and NGO work (e.g., the Red Cross). The course includes real-world encounters with health and care sector staff and practical activities, plus 16 social-project hours and reflection on experience. It teaches teamwork, communication, self-competence, conflict resolution, and empathy to support a future-oriented, responsible, health-promoting lifestyle.
The school offers a Bilingual Programme with English as the language of instruction in the Upper School for most subjects, supplemented by a Native English-Speaking Teacher (NEST) team to support bilingual teaching in several subjects. In the Upper School, all lessons are taught in English with the exception of language lessons.
Mental wellbeing is addressed within Health and Care, with Mental Health and Stress Management as a core topic.
Gymnasium Klosterneuburg International School is a public senior secondary school in Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria, near Vienna. It comprises two branches: a language-focused Gymnasium and a science-oriented Realgymnasium, with bilingual classes that integrate the Austrian curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The bilingual track begins with English in Grade 1 and progresses to English-taught lessons across subjects by Grade 4; in the upper school students may complete the Austrian Matura and, alongside, the IB Diploma, with six subjects at higher and standard levels plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. The school serves ages 10 to 18 and offers a bespoke curriculum alongside the IB DP.
