Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Established in 1972 BEPS International School serves the international community of Brussels by providing education for children aged 2½ to 18. It is located in a beautiful area near the Bois de la Cambre. The school has around 300 students and a teaching body from around the world, which brings rich diversity to the learning environment. BEPS describes itself as a family and aims to welcome each member of the school community.

Community

BEPS fosters an international, close-knit community with students and staff from many nationalities. All parents are members of the PTA, and an energetic PTA committee organizes events that bring families, teachers and children together. The school hosts family events such as Welcome Back Picnic, Halloween or Winter party, and the Summer Fair; it also runs child-focused activities around Saint Nicolas, Halloween, and Easter Egg Hunt.

Parent-Teacher Association

All BEPS parents are members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). An energetic PTA committee organizes events and raises funds to support school projects and charity. PTA events include Welcome Back Picnic, Halloween/Winter party, and the Summer Fair; there are also child-focused activities such as Saint Nicolas, Halloween and Easter Egg Hunt.

English is the language of instruction, with EAL support including Survival English and an EAL club, while the French Acquisition Programme promotes multilingual communication. The secondary programme emphasizes inquiry-based learning aligned with IB practices, small class sizes (up to 18) and authentic, interdisciplinary projects. The campus combines a historic façade with contemporary, purpose-built spaces including a Maker Space and a modern Science Lab, plus spaces for collaboration and quiet study. BEPS emphasizes real-world learning, wellbeing, and a caring, family-like community.
