EEBA was created in 2016 when Lycée Molière, in partnership with the Scandinavian School of Brussels, opened the European School of Bruxelles-Argenteuil. The English-language primary section opened first, followed by secondary education for students whose mother tongue was English, French or Swedish from 2017. The Scandinavian legacy continued as the SSB co-founded EEBA and provided the Swedish and Finnish sections; SSB closed in 2020, with the EEBA site continuing to host the school. The Queen Astrid Foundation, a non-profit, owns the EEBA site and EEBA is managed by a board of directors. The campus is situated on the Château d'Argenteuil grounds near Waterloo, in Walloon Brabant, at the edge of the Forêt de Soignes.
EEBA's community includes alumni, parents, and students through groups such as Friendship Supporters, Eco-Reps, Class Representatives, and the Parent-Teacher Association. The Friendship Supporters focus on the well-being of primary pupils; Eco-Reps coordinate ecological projects; Class Representatives are elected by pupils and meet several times a year; the Education Council allows parent representation and meets four times annually to discuss pedagogical issues. The PTA organizes social events for students and parents, runs activities such as the yearbook and fundraising for additional equipment, and maintains a Facebook page for community updates. The EEBA community also includes partnerships with other European and international schools and with the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, and an active School Alumni network.
The Parent-Teacher Association promotes active participation of parents, teachers, school staff, and students in education and related activities. Key activities include organizing social events for students and parents, such as food and wellness events, producing the yearbook, and fundraising for additional school equipment. An Education Council exists at the start of the year to allow parents to represent their child's section or class, with four meetings held annually to discuss pedagogical issues. The PTA maintains a presence through the EEBA Facebook page, providing updates and a channel for community interaction. EEBA also maintains partnerships with other European and international schools and with the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, reinforcing its wider network.
European School of Bruxelles-Argenteuil (EEBA) is a private bilingual school in Belgium offering the European Schools program alongside a bespoke curriculum, from ages 3 to 18. The school provides the European Baccalaureate and the International Baccalaureate as two reference diplomas, enabling students to pursue university study across Europe and beyond. The campus is situated on the Château d'Argenteuil grounds near Waterloo, combining historic settings with modern classrooms, science laboratories, a large library, and ICT facilities. The Château's facilities host art, sewing, and woodwork workshops, a music room and concert hall, as well as a school restaurant. EEBA emphasizes language development through dedicated English and French boosts, and maintains a range of after-school activities including sports, arts, and cultural programs. Extracurriculars extend to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, community service, and creative clubs, with Stay & Learn sessions and a Summer Camp that broaden learning beyond the classroom for all students.
