Colégio São Luís uses an Ignatian-inspired pedagogy centered on the person. Formation is integral and lifelong, with emphasis on cognitive, socioemotional, and spiritual-religious dimensions, guiding students toward goodness, truth and beauty. The education prepares students for personal and professional fulfillment while equipping them to be autonomous citizens committed to humanity and the common home. It aims to develop students as Competent, Conscious, Creative, Committed, and Compassionate people, through a curriculum defined by five general competencies for lifelong learning. The school emphasizes interculturality and global citizenship and aligns with UNESCO's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Proficiency in languages is a prerequisite for forming a global citizen; the school invests in meaningful English language learning with extended hours. It serves as an optional Cambridge English exam center, offering tests appropriate to each age group. Cambridge exam results support applications to international universities, and the school hosts informative lectures with international universities and provides individual mentoring for students pursuing international admissions.
Spiritual formation is central to school life: Christian initiation (baptism, first Communion, and confirmation), volunteering, social campaigns, and Ignatian Spiritual Exercises for staff, with weekly Mass and moments of Ignatian prayer shared by students, staff, and families. The school also supports the Project of Life (Projeto de Vida) and Religious Education areas as part of students' holistic development. Teamwork, interdisciplinarity, and collaborative projects are emphasized, fostering empathy, ethics, dialogue, and responsibility in group work.
The school adopts the Internal Policy for the Protection of the Rights of the Child and Adolescent, grounded in the Federal Constitution, the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (Law 8.069/90) and other applicable laws. A Permanent Care Committee ensures policy compliance, prevents all forms of abuse, and supports and protects potential victims, while promoting a 'culture of care' through ongoing training and open dialogue spaces. The school maintains regular liaison with an Antiracist Collective of Mothers, Fathers, and Guardians. All staff participate in the Arrupe Ignatian Leadership Development Program.
Colégio São Luís is a co‑educational private Catholic Jesuit school in Brazil that blends a bespoke curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the British curriculum for a rigorous, internationally minded education. The Ignatian pedagogy centers the student in an integral formation across intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and cultural dimensions, guided by the PEC and the Rede Jesuíta de Educação, and anchored by BNCC and UNESCO guidelines. Students develop five core competencies—Competentes, Conscientes, Criativos, Comprometidos, Compassivos—through a revised curricular matrix and active, autonomous learning. Assessment is semestral: descriptive reports in early years; AV1–AV4 and an annual final average in older years, with an option to take the IB Diploma in High School. The Ibirapuera campus (opened 2020) spans 28,000 m2, featuring science labs, a Maker Space, a library, a chapel, theatres, and a comprehensive sports complex, including a semi‑Olympic pool and track. Cambridge English preparation is also offered to families.
