Raquel Lam is the founder and principal of RED HOUSE. In 1969, RED HOUSE's English school for children and teenagers gave rise to the RED Balloon, pioneering a language acquisition approach that revolutionized a generation. In 2010, RED HOUSE International School was founded in partnership with experts in learning science, creating a modern international and bilingual curriculum with a Brazilian soul. The language acquisition methodology is grounded in evidence from linguistics, neuroscience, neuropsychology, and contemporary educational methods.
The International University Fair (March 2026) brought together High School students from the Perdizes and Villa-Lobos campuses with representatives from international universities, organized in partnership with KIC; universities represented included Baylor University, FIU, Lees-McRae College, Loyola Marymount University, Stony Brook University, and the University of Houston. Year 10 Field Trip to the Amazon (March 2–8, 2026) immersed students in Manaus, with visits to museums and theatres and to the Rio Negro region, including field activities in Tumbira and Acajatuba and turtle-conservation workshops. Art Exhibition at the Perdizes campus showcased Year 6–Year 12 works and marked the completion of Visual Arts for the IB Diploma Programme, with families in attendance. RED HOUSE Olympics 2025 at Villa-Lobos united students from multiple campuses for a day of futsal, volleyball, and athletics, with families and teachers in attendance and medals awarded.
Red House International School is an international bilingual school based in Brazil, serving ages 1 to 18. The curriculum includes a bespoke program and the IB Diploma Programme (DP), taught in English within curricular content and aligned to the Brazilian BNCC. The bespoke curriculum is developed by the Educational Design Laboratory (RED Lab) to foster global thinking while preserving Brazilian roots, including focus on Brazilian literature and culture.
