All teachers are language teachers and all students are immersed in language learning from day one. The academic language support program provides one-on-one, small-group, and full-class instruction to help English language learners succeed in academic classes. Boarders have weekend academic language classes tailored to their language learning needs, including IELTS test preparation. Balmoral Hall does not require any test scores for English language proficiency; admission follows a multi-step process: an interview with the Executive Director and/or Principal of Middle & Senior School, an online Duolingo assessment, a face-to-face assessment at the start of the school year, and a follow-up placement meeting.
Balmoral Hall School is a non-denominational independent day and boarding school in Winnipeg, Canada, serving students from ages 2 to 18. The campus comprises five buildings, two gymnasiums, a boarding house, and Benidickson Centre for Arts & Design, opened in 2018–2019. The school emphasizes technology-enabled learning through its Apple Distinguished School designation for 2025–2028. The curriculum blends an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in Junior School with an inquiry-based Capstone program from Grade 6 that links cross-curricular learning with formative feedback. In Middle and Senior School, students may study College Board Advanced Placement courses across arts, English, languages, humanities, math, sciences, technology, and entrepreneurial exploration, with opportunities to sit AP exams for university credit.
