TFS is the only full-continuum International Baccalaureate world school in Canada for French and English. It is co-educational, bilingual and internationally minded since 1962. It teaches the curricula of France and Ontario within the IB framework. Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB), Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and the Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma are offered.
The Arts at TFS includes writing, song, dance, drama and visual arts. The Senior School hosts notable arts events throughout the year, including a dance show and MAD Night (music, art and drama). Arts council members organize the Senior School's artistic life and help stage these activities, culminating in MAD Night.
Students become bilingual in French and English, and third language classes begin in Grade 6. Trips and exchanges broaden intercultural competencies and develop a global perspective. The school teaches the French and Ontario curricula within the IB framework, connecting learning to world issues and citizenship.
Clubs and assemblies are integral to school life, and leadership opportunities are embedded across all grades. Arts council members organize the Senior School's artistic life and MAD Night, reflecting student interests. Clubs reflect student interests and actions, contributing to the social fabric of campus life.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is a long-term, outside-TFS service component during the Diploma years, including volunteering with Habitat for Humanity or in long-term care facilities. The PYP Exhibit (Grade 5) requires groups to research a world issue, identify actions and present their findings to parents, teachers and peers. Overnight trips start in Grade 3 to develop citizenship, intercultural understanding and leadership, with some experiences contributing to visiting communities.
Leadership is a core part of the TFS student experience, with leadership roles embedded in every branch and grade. In the Senior School, students can lead through athletics, arts, clubs, governance and houses, including prefect, club head or house head roles. Mentorship and assemblies support discussion of citizenship and world issues as part of student development.
Physical activity is central at TFS, with 80+ competitive teams and a full Under-9 athletics program. The school uses Frazer Field, a 25-metre swimming pool and multiple gymnasia across campuses to support sport and fitness. Physical education is part of the regular curriculum up to Grade 9, with swimming, gymnastics and ice-skating included as appropriate.
The Toronto French School (Canada's International School) is a two-campus, bilingual school delivering France and Ontario curricula within the International Baccalaureate framework. Serving students from age two to 18, TFS offers the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program and Diploma Program, with a bilingual IB Diploma option. French curriculum has been recognized by the French Ministry of Education since 1984 and is taught from Jardin d'éveil through Grade 9. The school leads to the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB) and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), including the Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma. Brevet examinations are offered; in 2024, 97 students participated with a 100% pass rate. TFS operates on two campuses: Toronto Campus at 306 Lawrence Avenue East and Mississauga's West Campus. Enrolling about 1,500 students. Facilities include a 350-seat auditorium, a green lab, a maker space, a design lab, a music studio and a multimedia room, plus sport facilities.
