French and English are the founding languages of instruction. All students graduate bilingual in English and French. Third language classes are available starting in Grade 6. Curricula from France and Ontario are taught through the International Baccalaureate framework.
The school teaches in English and French. It offers bilingual education across two campuses. TFS is the only full-continuum International Baccalaureate world school for French and English in Canada. The curricula of France and Ontario are taught through the IB framework, leading to the French National Brevet diploma, the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and the Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma.
Introductory French is available from JK through Grade 7 for learners with little or no prior French. New learners join introductory French classes while still following their grade's curriculum, with more integration into regular classes over time. Introductory French teachers speak French daily and encourage students to use French across the school day. By graduation, all our students are fully bilingual in English and French.
The Toronto French School (Canada's International School) is a two-campus, bilingual school delivering France and Ontario curricula within the International Baccalaureate framework. Serving students from age two to 18, TFS offers the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program and Diploma Program, with a bilingual IB Diploma option. French curriculum has been recognized by the French Ministry of Education since 1984 and is taught from Jardin d'éveil through Grade 9. The school leads to the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB) and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), including the Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma. Brevet examinations are offered; in 2024, 97 students participated with a 100% pass rate. TFS operates on two campuses: Toronto Campus at 306 Lawrence Avenue East and Mississauga's West Campus. Enrolling about 1,500 students. Facilities include a 350-seat auditorium, a green lab, a maker space, a design lab, a music studio and a multimedia room, plus sport facilities.
