Language Provision

Language learning opportunities and multilingual education

Language Provision

English is taught from maternelle to terminale, with hours that vary by grade. An English-immersion option (Anglais intensif) is available for non-English-speaking elementary students, alternating weeks between English and French. A second language program introduces Italian and German in CM2, with one language-hour per semester; in 5e students choose a second language (Italian, German, or Spanish) and continue to Terminale; Spanish is introduced as a language option. Latin is offered as an elective from 5e to Terminale.

Bilingual Teaching

The school teaches in French. English is taught as a language from kindergarten through terminale, not as the language of instruction. There is no bilingual program.

Immersion Programs

Anglais intensif provides an immersive English experience for non-Anglophone elementary students, with an alternating schedule of English and French weeks. It includes cultural content and exposure to English as used in multiple countries, including Canada. This immersion is part of the CIMF language program integrated into the curriculum.

Collège International Marie de France (CIMF) is a private school located in Montréal at 4635 Queen Mary. It is affiliated with the AEFE network and delivers the French national curriculum alongside the Québec model, preparing students for two French diplomas: the Diplôme National du Brevet (end of 3e) and the Baccalauréat Français (1ère and Terminale). Eight Baccalauréat specialties are offered, and progression supports two streams with options across humanities, sciences, languages, and economics. The school operates from Maternelle through Lycée, with English study beginning in early years and additional languages introduced from CM2. CIMF's campus includes an auditorium of 300 seats, two libraries with around 20,000 titles, a cafeteria, computer and science labs, and a dedicated IT team. Extracurriculars span STEM, arts, languages and community service, including Genius Club, Robotics and Chess, as well as extensive performing arts and music programs. The school welcomes families from roughly seventy nationalities worldwide.
