Introduction

Collège Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes is a long-standing francophone secondary college in Longueuil, near Montreal, founded in 1950 by the Sisters of Providence and now a fully lay institution. It offers two study paths: the NDL+ enrichments linked to the MEQ program and the International Education Program (PEI), which culminates in the IB Diploma with final exams. All classes are in French, with strong language profiles that include English enrichment across the years and Spanish in 3e–4e, fostering intercultural skills. The PEI pathway combines interdisciplinary projects, a personal project, and service involvement, and is complemented by a bilingual diplomation. The school emphasizes student wellbeing and broad extracurricular life: 30 activities, 35 sports teams, robotics through the Alpha Lab, and a daily 25-minute reading period. The campus recently expanded with a new sports block, and the 75th anniversary in 2025 marked a milestone in upgrades. The environment is family-like and globally oriented, welcoming families.

Curriculum

The school offers general education leading to a Diploma of Secondary Studies, with courses taught in French. From 1re to 5e secondaire, there are two study paths: NDL+ (enrichments to the MEQ program) and the International Education IB program (PEI). NDL+ enrichments include English enrichment in 4e and 5e, Science enrichment (STE) in 4e, and a daily 25-minute reading period, with options and a yearly project, and the program prepares students to pursue higher education. The PEI program provides the IB Diploma via final IB exams, with inclusive admission, bilingual diplomation, and a personal project. PEI defines language profiles and requirements, including English enrichment from 1re to 5e and Spanish in 3e-4e, and mandates science in 5e along with cross-disciplinary projects and options.

Higher Education Progression

The IB Diploma is granted through final IB exams, and is recognized worldwide. The NDL+ program prepares students to pursue higher education. Both programs emphasize projects and interdisciplinary experiences to prepare for post-secondary study.

NDL+ provides enrichments to the MEQ curriculum, including English enrichment in 4e-5e and STE in 4e, plus a daily reading period, options, and a yearly project. The PEI IB program offers advanced opportunities, including a bilingual language profile (enriched French and English, with Spanish in 3e-4e) and mandatory science in 5e, with final IB exams leading to the IB diploma.
Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The college provides a humane environment where respect, engagement, and openness guide daily life. The International Education Program (IB) has been offered for nearly 30 years under the International Baccalaureate Organization and develops critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a sense of responsibility. Two IB tracks are available: Regular (PER) and Enriched (PEI), with language options including English enrichment and Spanish in later years. The college emphasizes a human-scale approach with rigorous yet supportive supervision, a rich life at school and in extracurriculars, and strong facilities. Through community involvement and international projects, students develop empathy and learn to act with responsibility. The mission emphasizes a humane, world-facing environment that sharpens minds and forms responsible, open-minded citizens.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

NDL recognizes students with an intervention plan and provides accommodations during tests, including extra time, text-to-speech, word prediction, and the Antidote software. The school works with parents to determine whether it can reasonably meet a student's needs and to establish an adapted intervention plan. If meeting the needs is not possible, the school may not enter into or renew the contract for educational services.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

All courses are taught in French. English is offered as an enriched language within the PEI track, with English enrichment available in 4e and 5e secondary. Français – Anglais is offered as language enrichment, and English enrichment is included in the language offerings alongside Spanish in 3e-4e.

Mental Wellbeing

NDL provides a humane environment where respect, engagement, and openness guide daily life. The college offers a rigorous yet caring supervision model and a rich school and extracurricular life. The mission emphasizes developing empathy and a sense of responsibility through community involvement and international projects. The IB program fosters curiosity and personal growth, supporting students' well-being. A strategic plan for 2024–2027 aims to create an inclusive, stimulating life that is environmentally responsible.

Safeguarding

The college has a prevention and intervention plan against intimidation and violence, and invites parents to consult the parent guide on the college portal. The institution commits to addressing a protection request within 24 hours and to conducting an investigation within 48 hours. A formal complaint form is available for reporting incidents, and families are advised to preserve evidence (messages, photos, emails, texts) and attach it to the report. The school coordinates with parents to determine appropriate actions and follows up to ensure protection and appropriate consequences.

Admissions

Admissions

1. Admissions take place in spring. For students currently in 5th or 6th year of elementary school, or for students entering 1re secondaire in the current year, admissions are organized. 2. Step 1 — Ranking test and dossier review: The application period runs from April 1 to April 16, 2027. Documents required include the final report for 4e year, the most recent report for 5e year, the latest intervention plan if applicable, and any other professional diagnostics. A non-refundable filing fee of $50 applies. 3. Step 1 — Analysis of the dossier and ranking test: An initial analysis is conducted by the administration. The student may receive an invitation to the ranking test or be informed that the dossier is not admissible. The ranking test is online, about 90 minutes, with multiple-choice questions across four themes: Academic abilities, French reading, Grammar, and About my studies. Some students may be invited to take an additional French-writing test. 4. Step 1 — Study of the complete dossier and verdict: The College reviews the entire dossier (4e and 5e year report cards and test results). The College does not select candidates solely by test results; it seeks the best path for each student. Eligibility thresholds are: 70% or more in all subjects (admissible to Regular PEI and NDL+); 80% or more in all subjects (admissible to Enriched PEI, Regular PEI, and NDL+). The verdict is emailed within three weeks after the ranking test; if admissible, an invitation to the information evening follows. 5. Step 2 — Program choice and registration: 5a. Information evening (via videoconference): Parents receive confirmation of the recommended program(s) for the student (NDL+, PEI Regular, PEI Enriched) and the procedures to register. 5b. Submission of registration documents: Completed registration form with the program choice, plus a scanned birth certificate (or proof of citizenship if born outside Canada). 5c. Lottery and verdict (registered or waitlisted): A lottery is conducted to allocate places and prioritize registrations by program; it takes place in the week following the deadline to submit registration documents. All families who submit the required documents on time will be included and will receive a place confirmation or a waitlist position. A non-refundable registration fee of $200 must be paid at this stage for all students admitted as a result of the lottery. 6. Why a lottery? The College favors an inclusive and fair approach. Rather than selecting candidates by ranking test results, admissions are determined by a program-specific lottery to establish the admission order of eligible students. 7. Number of places available: The College welcomes about 230 to 240 students in 1re secondaire, distributed as 3 groups of Enriched PEI, 2 groups of Regular PEI, and 2 NDL+ groups. 8. Who makes up the NDL Family? Children of College staff; siblings of current or graduated students; children of alumni (NDL Alumni); students enrolled in an international education program at primary who want to continue PEI at secondary; students preselected for a concentration offered at the College. 9. Des questions? 10. Rentrée 2027-2028: For students currently in 6e year of primary, the places in 1re secondaire for the 2027 intake have all been filled across the three programs and tracks (NDL+, PEI Regular, PEI Enriched). There is also a substantial waitlist for each program; it is not possible at this time to submit a new application for 2027-2028. Parents seeking admission for 1re secondaire for the 2025-2026 school year should contact the admissions office. 11. Rentrée 2026-2027: For a student in 1re secondaire, the places for the 2026-2027 intake have all been filled across the three programs and tracks. 12. Admissions 2e to 5e secondaire: For students already in secondary, there are separate details for the current year (2026-2027) and the next year (2027-2028) regarding entry to 2e–5e secondaire.

Waitlist

The waitlist is formed as part of the program-specific admission lottery. After the submission deadline, a lottery is held to allocate places and determine admission order by program. Families who submit the required documents on time are included in the lottery and receive either a confirmed place or a waitlist position. This system reflects an inclusive, equitable approach, with orders of admission not determined solely by test results.
