Admissions

Admissions

1. Begin the application: To begin the application process, the parent or guardian must complete and submit a Lakecrest Application Form and pay a $250 application fee for each student applying for admission. The fee is non-refundable. For placement beyond Grade One, the two most recent final year report cards must be submitted; for Grade One, Kindergarten final report card must be submitted. Information given during the admissions process will be held in the strictest confidence. If the child can be accommodated, a place will be offered in the appropriate grade. 2. Review and confidentiality: After submission, the application is reviewed. If the school determines it can meet the applicant's needs, the student is considered for placement in the appropriate grade. Parents are contacted with the outcome. Admission is at the sole discretion of the school. 3. Trial days: Any student seeking admission during the academic year may be asked to visit Lakecrest for a trial day. Parents seeking admission for their child may also request a trial visit day. 4. Prioritizing and waitlists: Prioritizing applications is used when class spaces are limited. Applications paid by March 1 are prioritized according to four criteria: (1) applicants who attended the preceding year; (2) applicants with a sibling at Lakecrest; (3) applicants whose tuition is paid or reimbursed by a company at the company rate; (4) date the completed application was received. If a waitlist is generated, it will be created for the grade by the end of the third week of March for the following school year. If space becomes available, the first applicant on the waitlist will be offered placement. New applications for that grade received after March 1 are added to the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis. 5. Waitlist outcomes and refunds: If a child is placed on a waitlist and ultimately not offered placement in the year, the parent can request removal from the waitlist and receive a partial refund ($125) of the admission fee after October 1 of the school year; or remain on the waitlist. Space can become available during the school year, and new students can be accepted. For students accepted after October 1, the amount of tuition owed is prorated. 6. Final notes: Admission remains at the sole discretion of the school. If the applicant is deemed eligible and the school can meet their needs, the student will be considered for placement in the appropriate grade.

Scholarships

Lakecrest offers an annual bursary program to assist some families with the cost of tuition. Each year the Board of Directors approve a limited number of bursaries. Bursaries are handled with the strictest confidentiality. Only the Bursary Committee members know who has received a bursary and what the amount has been. Even Board Members are not privy to that information.

Waitlist

Waitlists are used when class spaces are limited and not all acceptable applicants can be accommodated. A waitlist for a grade is generated by the end of the third week of March for the following school year, using priority criteria. Priority criteria are: 1) applicants who attended the preceding year; 2) applicants with a sibling who attended Lakecrest in the preceding year; 3) applicants whose tuition is paid or reimbursed by a company paying the company rate for all students of its employees; 4) the date the completed application was received. If space becomes available, the first applicant on the waitlist will be offered placement. New applications for that grade received after March 1 are added to the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis. If a child on the waitlist is not offered placement for the year, a parent can request removal and receive a partial refund of the admission fee ($125) after October 1, or remain on the waitlist. Space may become available during the school year, and students accepted after October 1 will have tuition prorated. Admission is at the sole discretion.
