The Lycée international de Calgary opened in 1966 as Lycée Louis Pasteur in southwest Calgary to educate the children of expatriate French nationals, and later opened to students of all nationalities. In 1982 it was incorporated under the Societies Act in Alberta and accredited by Alberta Education, and in 1990 it joined the AEFE network. In 2000 the school moved to its current Altadore location, and the high school opened in 2011 with first graduates in 2014. The school adopted the name Lycée international de Calgary in 2021, and in January 2025 a new kindergarten building with eight classrooms and a gym opened. Located in Altadore near Marda Loop, the school offers a bilingual curriculum combining the French Ministry of Education with Alberta Education, with graduates earning both the French baccalaureate and the Alberta diploma.
The Lycée international de Calgary is part of a global network of more than 500 schools across 137 countries. The campus includes an indoor climbing wall and a modern campus, and renovations were completed to unify the campus, including a new kindergarten facility opened in 2025. A school calendar keeps families informed about holidays and admissions events, and parent-teacher interviews are scheduled throughout the year. Open House events invite families to tours, information sessions, meet-the-teachers sessions, clubs, and climbing-wall activities.
The Lycée Louis Pasteur Society is a non-profit organization operated by the school, and its members are the parents or guardians of enrolled students. The Society is governed by an elected Board of Directors with up to twelve directors and an ex-officio Head of School. School Council, presided by the Head of School, meets at least three times a year and includes staff, administrators and parent and student representatives. A Parent Representative Group exists as part of governance, with three parents and three alternates elected by peers. Parent-teacher meetings are part of the schools communication protocols. For involvement or inquiries, parents can contact the board and admissions team via the school.
The Lycée international de Calgary offers a dual-curriculum education for preschool through Grade 12, combining the French Ministry of National Education program with Alberta Education. It is an independent bilingual school and AEFE member in the Altadore neighbourhood. Students study in French and English, and in high school earn both the French Baccalaureate and the Alberta High School Diploma, enabling pathways to Canadian and international tertiary study. The school began in 1966 as Lycée Louis Pasteur and joined AEFE in 1990; it adopted its current name in 2021. A new kindergarten building with eight classrooms and a gym opened in January 2025. Facilities include modern bilingual classrooms, a bilingual library, an indoor climbing wall, a gym, a sports field, and a renovated maternelle building. The International Program welcomes students from France and AEFE schools, with hosting arranged through the Canada Homestay Network.
