Meadowridge School was founded by a dedicated group of parents who saw a need for better educational choices in the community and opened in September 1985. It started with 85 students in a ramshackle collection of mobile classrooms on rented property and now occupies a 35-acre campus with more than 500 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. In 2006, Meadowridge was accredited as an International Baccalaureate World School for the Primary and Middle Years Programmes. In February 2008, a $9 million expansion was completed, bringing the entire teaching facility to over 100,000 square feet.
Meadowridge welcomes the world, and its multicultural student body is an education in itself. Meadowridge families come from Langley, Surrey, Mission, Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows, and the Tri-Cities. Meadowridge students participate in service and leadership, with more than 40 clubs across the continuum, including Model United Nations, Debate, Robotics, Gardening, and Social Justice. The school maintains long-standing relationships with local and international charities, and last year students initiated more than 30 service projects and events in support of these and other causes. Cultural celebrations, such as Diwali, are part of the Meadowridge community.
The Meadowridge Parent Guild is a non-profit organization that nurtures a strong, collaborative, welcoming school community and supports the mission of the school. The Guild provides a vital communication link between parents and the School, conducting business without bias toward race, religion, gender, or politics. Monthly Deputy Head Coffees are hosted by the Deputy Head, centered around topics of interest and open to all parents. The Community Development Coordinator helps connect parents who want to volunteer with school needs, tracks volunteer records, and supports volunteer programmes. The Guild oversees After-School and Summer Programmes and other volunteering opportunities. Fundraising initiatives are undertaken to fund enhancements to programmes, with major avenues including Annual Giving, a Gala Fundraiser, and a Golf Tournament Fundraiser.
Meadowridge School is an independent, coeducational IB World School in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, offering the International Baccalaureate Continuum from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12, alongside the Canadian curriculum. The Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme provide a cohesive, inquiry‑based education that culminates in the IB Diploma or IB Course Certificates, complemented by the BC Dogwood Diploma. The campus spans 35 acres, features a library with over 47,000 resources, gardens and a greenhouse, and dedicated spaces such as the Design Lab, PYP/MYP wings, and art and music studios. Meadowridge emphasizes experiential and outdoor learning, a robust post-secondary counselling program, and a broad range of clubs from robotics and debate to language and service initiatives, supported by a diverse athletics program, and a sense of community.
