Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Mulgrave School was established in 1993 by Linda Hamer and a group of dedicated parents, starting with 12 students in a church parking lot portable and later expanding to the North Shore Winter Club. The first capital campaign raised $32 million from the parent community to build a new Senior School, a parking lot, and the Great Hall/cafeteria. A West Vancouver campus was developed, with a West Wing opening to house preschool and Middle School spaces, as well as art and design studios, and renovated Junior School spaces. In November 2021, Mulgrave was evaluated and re-accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) for the cohesion of its community and alignment around mission, vision, and values. The school continues to develop through ongoing facility enhancements and the International Baccalaureate continuum.

Community

Mulgrave's community is diverse, inclusive, and values-based, with a strong sense of family. Mulgrave Spirit describes a community full of enthusiasm and care. Cirque de Nuit Gala is a major community event supporting the Momentum Annual Fund and featuring world-class entertainment. Other community-building activities include Welcome Back BBQ and Bingo Night.

Parent-Teacher Association

Mulgrave Volunteer Parents (MVP) is a group of parents, relatives, and loved ones of students from the Early Years to the Senior School, working together to enhance Mulgrave's vibrant sense of community. They collaborate with faculty, staff, and parents to organise and coordinate events and activities throughout the year. Some activities include uniform sales, sports programme assistance, class parent representation, decorating for holidays and events, and special event support for community building activities such as the Welcome Back BBQ and Bingo Night. Supported by an amazing community of caring, talented parents, guardians and loved ones, our children benefit from the time and knowledge of our volunteers. Express Interest in Volunteering and Connect with the MVP Executive are available for those who want to get involved.
