Stratford Hall was founded in 1998 by Elaine Lee and Cindy Leung and opened in 2000 with 55 students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. It became the first Western Canadian school to authorize the IB Primary Years Programme in 2003 and subsequently earned Diploma Programme accreditation in 2005, with a new Commercial Drive building. The school celebrated its first graduating class in 2007 and achieved full IB Continuum status with MYP accreditation in 2009, followed by the opening of the MYP building in 2014. In 2018 Stratford Hall expanded to a fourth building spanning two city blocks, and 2025 marked its 25th year.
The Stratford Hall community works with 32 community partners. MYP Personal Project Exhibition showcases Grade 10 student work. In 2025 Stratford Hall celebrated its 25th anniversary. The 2024-2025 Annual Report highlights a year of growth, generosity, and community.
The Stratford Hall Parent Association (SHPA) is a group of engaged, caring parents who support the Stratford Hall community and its students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The SHPA Executive includes a President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Grade Rep Coordinator. In collaboration with the Advancement Department and Stratford Hall families, the SHPA helps organize and coordinate events for the benefit and enrichment of our whole school community. There are many ways to be involved, including Crossing Guard (All Year), Class Representative (All Year), Welcome Back BBQ (September), World Teacher Day (October), Junior School Grandparents + Grandfriends Day (March), Staff Appreciation Lunch (April), and End of the Year Carnival (June). Stratford Hall is an independent K–12 IB World School in Vancouver, Canada, offering the International Baccalaureate Continuum. The Primary Years Programme runs Kindergarten to Grade 5, the Middle Years Programme runs Grade 6 to 10, and the Diploma Programme runs Grade 11 to 12. As an IB World School, Stratford Hall emphasizes inquiry-based learning and global perspectives across its curriculum. The campus comprises three buildings with junior and senior spaces, two gymnasiums, and libraries equipped with BrainPOP and TumbleBook Library for the Junior School and a catalogue for the Senior School. The IDEA Lab supports interdisciplinary design, engineering and STEM, linking spaces and curriculum to innovation. The school maintains a strong after-school and camp program, extensive co-curricular activity, and an athletics program that competes in the ISEA. The school opened a fourth building in 2018 and celebrated 25 years in 2025. Students engage in service and leadership across grade levels.
