Beijing World Youth Academy

BWYA offers more than 80 after‑school clubs and activities, including science, robotics and electronic music, to engage students beyond the classroom. The Model United Nations (MUN) program is a long‑standing BWYA activity that participates in THIMUN networks and hosts the World Youth MUN conference, which began in 2024. The Classroom Without Walls Programme extends learning through local, domestic, and international trips across five areas: Culture, History, Community Service, Language Practice and Subject Learning. The school's facilities support academic and creative work, including an auditorium for performances and two maker spaces for hands‑on learning.

The auditorium seats over 450 and hosts a range of performances and concerts. There are two maker spaces used across subjects to support creative and practical projects. BWYA runs arts‑oriented clubs and interdisciplinary productions, such as the Soundscapes event described in recent news. The after‑school clubs program includes over 80 clubs and activities, many of which are arts and media focused.

BWYA concentrates on achieving high levels in both Chinese and English, particularly within the Middle Years Programme. The school offers IB Primary Years Programme, IB Middle Years Programme, IB Diploma Programme, Cambridge IGCSE and the Chinese National Curriculum, reflecting its international and bilingual approach. Model United Nations provides international exposure, with BWYA's WYMUN conference and THIMUN network contributing to global engagement. Service & Action is a core component of the MYP, reinforcing cultural awareness and community contribution.

BWYA offers more than 80 clubs and after‑school activities, many of which are student‑led, giving students a wide range of interests to pursue after the day ends. Clubs run weekdays from 15:50 to 17:00, with seasonal schedules and club fairs to showcase options. The school maintains a robust co‑curricular sports program under Wolves Athletic, including Cross Country, Football, Table Tennis, Handball, Basketball, Swimming, Ultimate Frisbee, Badminton, Tee‑Ball/Softball, Track & Field, Dodgeball and Volleyball. The emphasis is on teamwork, sportsmanship and well‑being as part of the broader learning experience.

The Classroom Without Walls Programme includes Community Service as one of its five focus areas, extending learning beyond the classroom through culturally and socially engaging trips. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award offers Bronze, Silver and Gold levels with components including Volunteering, Physical Recreation, Skills, and Adventurous Journeys; a residential component is included at Gold level. BWYA‑hosted MUN conferences and international exchanges provide avenues for service, leadership and global citizenship within student activities.

DofE provides a structured path for leadership and personal growth across Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, with time‑based requirements in four core areas and a Gold residential component. The MUN program develops leadership through committee leadership, public speaking, diplomacy and negotiation, with BWYA's World Youth MUN (WYMUN) being student‑led and guided by a faculty‑supported Secretariat. BWYA's THIMUN network involvement and annual MUN events offer students opportunities to lead, plan and influence outcomes on an international stage.

Wolves Athletic emphasizes health, wellbeing, good sportsmanship and citizenship as integral to the student experience, with coaches guiding student‑athletes at all levels. The school supports physical fitness and life skills through a broad range of sports, including swimming in a four‑lane pool for lessons and competition. Safeguarding is a priority at BWYA, with policies in place to ensure the health and safety of staff, students and visitors.
