CIEDI was founded in 1977, and a new campus opened in 1983. The first graduating class arrived in 1991, the same year the Proyecto Bilingüe – Calendario B began. It became an IB Continuum school in 1998, French was introduced as a foreign language in 2008, and a quality certification was achieved in 2009. Cognia Journey began in 2019, Integrated STEM was added in 2020, and Nature's Classroom launched in 2023. By 2030, CIEDI aims to be recognized for its holistic education model that develops socio-emotionally competent individuals who create change and contribute to sustainable futures."
CIEDI continuously pursues the best programs to support student wellbeing. Wellbeing and mental health are recognized openly, with conversations about feelings encouraged as a natural practice and with individualized follow-up as a core value. An integrated set of programs supports socio-emotional development, including Hi5, Paso a Paso, and the BIPRODEHU curriculum, building self-regulation, social awareness, self-awareness, positive communication, determination, and responsible decision-making. Convivencias and outdoor camps are held for all grades at campuses in Cota and Tenjo, and the Consentidos program, supported by Fundación Colectivo Aquí y Ahora, engages students from 5th through 9th grade and their families to promote awareness of risks related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs."
Colombia's Colegio CIEDI is a co-educational International Baccalaureate World School serving students aged 3 to 18. It delivers the IB Continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) with IB certifications at all three stages since 2006. Languages of instruction are Spanish, English and French, with a bilingual framework incorporating a third language. Founded in 1977, CIEDI operates a campus on the Van der Hammen Nature Reserve with campuses in Cota and Tenjo, integrating Nature's Classroom and Integrated STEM as pedagogies. The school emphasizes holistic, individualized education and international-mindedness, with the PYP focusing on inquiry-based learning, the MYP on autonomous, real-world connections, and the DP guiding university preparation with a global perspective.
