The American International School in Cyprus (AISC) began in 1987 when the school reopened with 51 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Esol Education purchased the school in 1993 and the name was changed to the American International School in Cyprus. From the start, AISC offered an American program of studies preparing students for universities in the United States and around the world. In 1994 the International Baccalaureate program was introduced to provide higher-level university preparation, with the first IB diplomas earned by graduates. AISC is accredited by MSA, the International Baccalaureate, the Council of International Schools, and the Cyprus Ministry of Education, and serves students from more than 32 countries.
AISC embraces parent involvement; parents participate in activities such as reading stories, sharing cultural traditions, and fundraising for projects. The school supports a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) made up of parent volunteers from all grade levels who provide feedback on programs and policy to support the school's mission. PASNET, the Parent and Student Network, designs events to build community spirit and runs initiatives such as the Room Parent Volunteer Program, the annual Halloween Event, the International Food Festival, and Healthy Living activities. There is an active alumni community. AISC communicates with families through multiple channels including Islander, ALMA, MANGEBAC, Hawk Feathers, and email.
