Multilingualism and intercultural understanding are central to the German School Toulouse. The school fosters a cosmopolitan mindset with a strong academic foundation and lifelong learning skills. It supports personal development through small classes and targeted support groups that adapt teaching to individual strengths and challenges. A counselling service—including a school social worker and a learning counsellor—provides support for students, teachers and parents with learning difficulties and related concerns. School life features numerous clubs, projects, cultural events, trips and competitions that promote social development and a sense of belonging.
Individual support and talent development are a core part of the DST approach. In small classes and support groups, teaching can adapt to strengths and weaknesses. The counselling service provides competent support for students, teachers and parents with learning difficulties and other issues, with a school social worker and a learning counsellor offering individual support. The school also encourages talents in music, art and sport through targeted encouragement and opportunities to perform, display or compete.
Trilingualism includes German, French and English. English is introduced as a subject in Grade 5 and is taught to native and second-language levels. English language study runs from Grade 5 to Grade 12 (Abitur/Abibac pathway), with regular exchanges and intercultural exposure supported by partnerships with English-speaking schools.
The counselling service provides support for students, teachers and parents with a range of issues, with a school social worker and learning counsellor offering individual support and information evenings. All-day care and after-school provision help support social development and wellbeing, including fixed afternoon activities and lunchtime supervision. School life emphasizes a sense of community, belonging and mutual support through clubs, projects, cultural events and excursions.
Guiding Principles describe a community built on trust, mutual respect and inclusion, with participation of all members. Diversity is viewed as an enrichment, and joint sporting and cultural activities strengthen unity. The school maintains links with local partner schools to build intercultural understanding and to foster safe, respectful encounters between students from different backgrounds.
