École Jeannine Manuel was founded in September 1954 as the École Active Bilingue in a townhouse on Avenue de la Bourdonnais in Paris. Jeannine Manuel believed education should shape 'whole' people, engaged in history and world affairs. In 1979, space constraints led to a relocation near Parc Monceau and a formal split; the school she continued with became the École Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel (EABJM) at 70 Rue du Théâtre. In 1992 École Jeannine Manuel Lille opened a campus in Marcq-en-Barœul, with a boarding option for international students. In 2004 the Fondation Jeannine Manuel was established under the patronage of Fondation de France to support the school; in 2014 the school was renamed École Jeannine Manuel, and in 2015 London opened its first site.
Jeannine Manuel Alumni Association, the Jeannine Manuel Foundation, and the Parents Association are key components of the school community. Through their projects and activities, they help bring the school's mission to life. The community spans the Paris, Lille, and London campuses.
The Parents Association welcomes new families through its annual Welcome events. It organizes seminars and conferences on topics of special interest to parents, and hosts social events such as the end-of-year Parent Night, Springfest, or Prom night for 11th- and 12th-grade students. School parents also have the possibility of joining cultural clubs (Group China, Japan, Russia, etc.) that provide a window into different cultures through weekly meetups and activities. As a crucial member of the school community, the Parent Association supports the school's mission of promoting international understanding by providing assistance with initiatives such as the exchange student program. It also supports various charity projects including the annual Race Against Hunger. Paris and Lille campuses have active Parents Associations with dedicated contact points.
