Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school supports social and emotional development through Montessori pedagogy and neuroscience-informed practice to develop each child's cognitive, social and physical skills. The aim is for every child to become a free, confident, aware and responsible individual who can adapt to any environment. Living together is foundational to the pedagogy, with emphasis on self-respect and respect for others. The team includes AMI graduates who receive ongoing professional development in non-violent communication and other approaches to support children's well-being. The learning environments for the Children's Community and the Children's House promote self-confidence, concentration and autonomy, while inclusive settings support social integration. The bilingual English–French context fosters daily social interaction and openness to the world.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Inclusive Class welcomes children with developmental disorders including dys, ASD and ADHD, with reception for eight children and a specialized AMI Montessori educator. Children are followed individually if needed by Nadia, the Montessori therapist, and the school aims to broaden inclusion through a care center project to support families. The class is designed to integrate these children alongside their peers with adapted tools and environments. The school's approach emphasizes inclusion and individualized support to help each child participate fully in school life. The mixed-age classrooms and dedicated staff enable targeted support for neurodevelopmental differences.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

100% bilingual education is provided with two educators per class, one English-speaking and one French-speaking, in the classroom every day. Fully bilingual materials, including books and activities, support language development in both languages. Daily exchanges in English and French foster immersion and linguistic flexibility during the sensitive language period up to age eight. The school has a Cambridge program for English language learning from age seven, offering Cambridge Fun For Starters, Movers and Flyers with internationally recognized certificates (optional). English language learning is integrated into the day-to-day Montessori curriculum.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported by a team of health and personal development professionals, including a speech therapist in research, a psychomotor therapist, a neuropsychologist, a Montessori therapist, a yoga teacher, a music teacher and a theater teacher. Psychomotor therapy and body awakening work with younger children are part of the program, with explicit attention to emotion, body awareness and self-regulation. Montessori educators, all AMI graduates, provide ongoing observation and personalized support to monitor well-being and development. The school aligns practices with the National Education program and integrates well-being into daily routines. Additional specialized staff coordinate activities that promote physical, emotional and social development.

Safeguarding

Safety and safeguarding are prioritized through rigorous hygiene and safety standards, secure access and fencing, and attention to allergen management and first aid in emergencies. Supervisory staff are trained to respond to medical needs and to maintain a safe environment for all students. The school follows the National Education program and maintains a team of health and personal development professionals to supervise practices with children. The Inclusive Class and Our Team pages describe dedicated professionals available to support children's safety, development and well-being. The school places a high emphasis on creating a safe, calm and respectful learning environment.
