From 6 to 12 years, the Montessori elementary program is built around five major lessons: the creation of the Earth, the life of plants and animals, human life, language, mathematics and science. The five 'great stories' frame new fields such as geography, history, language, mathematics, geometry and biology. The teacher builds each lesson using stories, music and visual patterns, experiments and games. The work in class is organized in small groups to encourage discussion, exchange and responsibility, and students have the freedom to choose their work and develop independence.
Music and theatre are integrated into the program to develop expressive abilities. The lessons promote music and theatre activities that foster creativity through performance, movement and verbal expression. On Wednesdays, 3–6 and 6–12 year olds participate in activities in art, language, corporal expression and board games after lunch. The Montessori materials and activities support creative exploration.
Bilingual education in French and English prepares children to engage with the world. English and French are used by educators in daily activities, and holidays workshops are conducted in both languages to support bilingual development.
A wide range of recreational activities is offered, including sport, culture and outings. Sport sessions are held on Thursday and Friday afternoons, with cooperative and non-competitive games and team-building activities. Judo takes place on Thursday afternoons, while Nautipolis swimming sessions occur on Fridays. Eco Life includes forest walks and environmental learning. On Wednesdays, Montessori workshops and activities such as art, language and board games are provided.
An active parent association contributes to school life through various actions and exchanges between parents and the school.
Outdoor activities connect children with nature and foster environmental awareness. Meals are shared experiences with organic options, and children participate in setting the table and composting to develop responsibility. After-school care is available from 4:15 pm to 5:50 pm with a snack, and the school hours run from 8:00 am to around 5:50 pm with schedule variations by class.
École Montessori Internationale Les Colibris is a bilingual Montessori school in Sophia Antipolis, within the Brague National Park. The school serves children from age 2 to 15, offering a continuous program that uses Montessori pedagogy across all ages with the same dedicated teachers. Founded in 2009, it moved to larger facilities in 2015: 1,200 m2 of indoor space and 3,000 m2 of outdoor grounds. The school is accredited by AMF (Association Montessori France) and ISMM (Institut Supérieur Maria Montessori), one of fourteen Montessori schools in France with accreditation. In 2020, it opened an International Montessori Middle School for ages 12–15, with a Thorenc pedagogical farm partnership providing full-board secondary education. The program emphasizes outdoor learning and a strong connection with nature, supported by bilingual French-English activity and a suite of sport, culture and outings. The Colibris Kids Club runs holiday programs for ages 2–12.
