Founded in 1996 by Jean-Marc Gobbi, the IBS Group is a collection of independent private international schools. IBS of Provence, the founding campus, started with fewer than 100 students and now welcomes more than 1,200 students aged 2 to 18. In 2025, IBS West Campus opened in Aix-en-Provence West as a new ultra-modern campus dedicated to primary classes. From age 2, students follow a bilingual program leading to either the French Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate, and the school operates six accommodation sites around Aix-en-Provence to support international students.
IBS of Provence is a truly global community with 75+ nationalities represented each year. More than 1,200 students aged 2 to 18 study at IBS of Provence's Luynes campus, with expansion across other campuses. IBS engages with local culture and sports through Patronage & Sponsoring, partnering with organizations such as Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Mécènes du Sud, Ballet Preljocaj and Les Concerts au coucher de soleil. Open days and other parent-facing events connect families with staff and programs.
Open Day is hosted to invite prospective families, with campus tours, staff presentations and a welcome coffee. Parent engagement includes parent coffee mornings. The school offers a broad range of clubs and activities for Primary and Secondary students, including Guitar, Multi-sports, Football, Choir, Dance, Chess and Theatre. The IBS Alumni network connects thousands of former students who have moved into various fields worldwide. IBS maintains Patronage & Sponsoring relationships with cultural and sports organizations such as Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Mécènes du Sud, Ballet Preljocaj, Les Concerts au coucher de soleil, PAUC Handball, and Provence Rugby.
International Bilingual School of Provence (IBS of Provence) is an international bilingual school in Aix-en-Provence, France, serving ages 2 to 18. The school offers a bilingual French–English program and two progression paths. The IBS Section follows the French National Education curriculum with a strong English component, while the International Section prepares students for Cambridge IGCSEs in Grades 9–10 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Grades 11–12, taught largely in English. In the French Bac pathway, about one‑third of classes are taught in English and two‑thirds in French, with a year‑long program supporting foreign students to improve their French. The IB Diploma Programme is delivered in English and includes six subject groups, a 4,000‑word extended essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity and Service. Domaine des Pins houses a library, amphitheatre, and art and dance spaces. IBS West Campus opened in 2025 for primary classes, with 75+ nationalities and six sites.
