Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in 1996 by Jean-Marc Gobbi, the IBS Group is a collection of independent private international schools. IBS of Provence, the founding campus, started with fewer than 100 students and now welcomes more than 1,200 students aged 2 to 18. In 2025, IBS West Campus opened in Aix-en-Provence West as a new ultra-modern campus dedicated to primary classes. From age 2, students follow a bilingual program leading to either the French Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate, and the school operates six accommodation sites around Aix-en-Provence to support international students.

Community

IBS of Provence is a truly global community with 75+ nationalities represented each year. More than 1,200 students aged 2 to 18 study at IBS of Provence's Luynes campus, with expansion across other campuses. IBS engages with local culture and sports through Patronage & Sponsoring, partnering with organizations such as Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Mécènes du Sud, Ballet Preljocaj and Les Concerts au coucher de soleil. Open days and other parent-facing events connect families with staff and programs.

Parent-Teacher Association

Open Day is hosted to invite prospective families, with campus tours, staff presentations and a welcome coffee. Parent engagement includes parent coffee mornings. The school offers a broad range of clubs and activities for Primary and Secondary students, including Guitar, Multi-sports, Football, Choir, Dance, Chess and Theatre. The IBS Alumni network connects thousands of former students who have moved into various fields worldwide. IBS maintains Patronage & Sponsoring relationships with cultural and sports organizations such as Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Mécènes du Sud, Ballet Preljocaj, Les Concerts au coucher de soleil, PAUC Handball, and Provence Rugby.
