Starting First Year (GS), learning English is fully integrated and bilingual exchanges occur among children of different nationalities in small classes of 15. The week is shared between two languages: two days in French and two days with English immersion, with a native French teacher and a native English teacher pairing to ensure continuity in learning. ISM – Ninos'cool is affiliated with IBS of Provence School, a Cambridge Exam center, and children are prepared for Cambridge Certifications: Starters, Movers and Flyers. The program covers Humanist Culture, Discovery of the World, History, Sciences, Geography, IT and Personal Development, and a Computer Certificate, in English or French, with field trips offered each period and several days of trips at year end.
Early bilingualism is implemented with bilingual classes. In kindergarten, instruction is English and Spanish; in elementary school, it is French and English. Each class has two teachers who teach in their native languages. Bilingualism enhances mental flexibility, attention and responsiveness, and helps learners acquire other foreign languages more easily later on.
Group work develops relationships and helps decision-making based on consensus. Workshops help the child progress individually and apply their acquired knowledge. Individual work and tutoring provide targeted support under the supervision of the teacher. Parents play an important role in this journey, and the partnership between school and parents supports learning and development.
IS Montpellier prioritizes each child's well-being and fulfillment. The environment encourages children to try, experiment, and ask questions, while communicating with others. Parents play an important role in this journey, and the partnership supports the child's well-being. The school aims to foster confidence and self-fulfillment in a creative learning environment.
International School of Montpellier (ISM) is a private bilingual international school in Saint-Clément-de-Rivière, about 10 minutes north of Montpellier. Founded in 2010, it serves children from age 2 to 11 in Nursery and Primary. The school offers a bilingual English-French curriculum with immersion and a Spanish immersion option in Nursery. From First Year onward, English is integrated with instruction delivered by native French and native English teachers, so students study core subjects in both languages. IS Montpellier follows both the French national curriculum and the British national curriculum, and prepares pupils for Cambridge assessments such as Starters, Movers and Flyers. The school is part of the IBS Group and operates as a Cambridge exam centre. Facilities include a park-like campus, a courtyard extension, a new laboratory and an activity room, with a sports field planned. Class sizes are small, around 15 pupils, and progress is reported regularly to parents annually.
