The school teaches English, French and Spanish. Nursery up to age 5 includes English immersion (3 days/week) and Spanish immersion (1 day/week) and aligns with the English Department of Education and the French National Education curriculum. Primary (GS to CM2) follows a French academic program and an English program that uses curricula from English schools, with related subjects taught in each language; Cambridge certifications Starters, Movers and Flyers are prepared through affiliation with IBS of Provence School.
The school has bilingual teaching in English and French. In Primary, starting First Year (GS), learning English is fully integrated, promoting bilingualism through exchanges between children of different nationalities in small classes of 15 students. The week is shared between the two languages: two days in French and two days in English with full days of immersion. Teachers pair up a native French teacher and a native English teacher to implement the program and ensure continuity in learning.
Up to age 5 (MS), children spend 3 days a week in English immersion and 1 day a week in Spanish immersion. In Primary, the week is shared between French and English with two days in each language and full immersion.
International School of Montpellier (ISM) is a private bilingual international school in Saint-Clément-de-Rivière, about 10 minutes north of Montpellier. Founded in 2010, it serves children from age 2 to 11 in Nursery and Primary. The school offers a bilingual English-French curriculum with immersion and a Spanish immersion option in Nursery. From First Year onward, English is integrated with instruction delivered by native French and native English teachers, so students study core subjects in both languages. IS Montpellier follows both the French national curriculum and the British national curriculum, and prepares pupils for Cambridge assessments such as Starters, Movers and Flyers. The school is part of the IBS Group and operates as a Cambridge exam centre. Facilities include a park-like campus, a courtyard extension, a new laboratory and an activity room, with a sports field planned. Class sizes are small, around 15 pupils, and progress is reported regularly to parents annually.
