Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The school provides a bilingual and bicultural education for children aged 3 to 18 across five host schools in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Le Pecq. English is taught for 6-8 hours per week, with the remaining time in French, ensuring genuine bilingual education and integration into the French host school system. In the secondary cycle, English language and literature are taught for four weekly periods of 50 minutes and history-geography in English for two weekly periods; in Troisième (Year 10) pupils begin the IGCSE in English Language and English Literature, which they take at the end of Seconde (Year 11). From Seconde onward, the BFI (Baccalauréat Français International) combines the French baccalauréat with English-language examinations in English Language and Literature and History/Geography, and the school aims to develop high levels of academic literacy in English to enable pupils to continue their education in the UK or another anglophone country.

Arts and Creative

There is a strong tradition of theatre and music in the British Section, with performances in class, host school projects, and participation in orchestras, bands, and choirs. Primary pupils study music and rhythm from Petite Section through CM2 and take part in end-of-year concerts. Secondary theatre is a major activity with lycée productions and drama evenings, and students may also compete in Poetry By Heart. Music opportunities include the Lycée International orchestra, a classical choir, and VOX, with participation in the Orchestre des Lycées Français du Monde, and Beauville Arts runs performing-arts camps.

Cultural and Language

The British Section operates within the Lycée International network of international sections, with English instruction across multiple host sites. Non-French speakers can join Français Spécial, a French-immersion pathway into mainstream French classes. The host schools provide a multilingual, multicultural environment and promote cultural diversity and international mobility. English language and literature are taught in secondary and English-language study is embedded across the curriculum.

Social and Hobbies

The Enrichment programme includes Debating League, Enrichment Insights with guest speakers, and the Model United Nations. The British Section has its own Student Council that promotes British culture and oversees charity work, yearbook production, and reading initiatives. The libraries host author visits, reading clubs, and related activities to foster a love of reading.

Community and Service

Pastoral care emphasizes personal development and well-being, with a strong home–school partnership and termly conseil de classe meetings. British Section students engage in charity work and community events, contributing to UNESCO school recognition through initiatives such as a whole-school readathon. The Parent-Teacher Group coordinates community events and volunteering across host sites.

Leadership and Professional

The University Entrance programme includes annual meetings for Première and Terminale and dedicated University Application Supervisors, with Unifrog providing guidance on work and careers. The Lycée International hosts a yearly Carrefour des Etudes et Métiers careers fair and invites university visitors; recent visitors have included senior tutors from Cambridge colleges. An Alumni network tracks graduates' pathways to inspire current students.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Pastoral care provides counselling and a comprehensive well-being framework, with strong home–school partnership and pastoral support across all stages. Sport is coordinated by the Parent Teacher Group and school clubs, with football and netball teams and inter-school competitions culminating in cup finals. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is available to pupils aged 14 and up, with Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, involving service, skills, physical recreation and adventurous journeys.
