Malherbe International School (MIS) is a bilingual day school in Le Vésinet, France, teaching children from age 2 to 13. Nursery and Pre-school follow Montessori methods, while Primary education is based on the English National Curriculum, with four days per week of English instruction and two to three half-days of French, plus a French immersion option for language learners. The curriculum also includes the British Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and French Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on French language development. The main site is housed in a restored 19th-century residence, with a dedicated library, computer room, and music room; in 2019 the Garden School expansion added a large garden, a preschool library, and wheelchair accessibility. MIS prepares pupils to transfer to home schools or Paris-area middle schools. Features include a Spanish section added in 2013, a bilingual environment, and after-school clubs (STEM, drama, music, languages) that extend learning beyond the classroom.

English and Mathematics are based on the English National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 & 2, with variations to suit the location in France. The bilingual program includes four days per week of English instruction (three and a half days for Year 6). Subjects taught through English include English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art and Design, Computing, and Physical Education. Reading is taught via Jolly Phonics with the Oxford Reading Tree scheme, and White Rose is used for mathematics; learning is organized around central themes with group and partner work to develop collaboration. MIS has an outstanding record of preparing children for transfer to other schools in their home environment, or to middle schools in the Paris area.
The average class size is 15 students.
Admissions are open for the 2026-2027 school year. An application package can be downloaded and returned to the Principal for review. There are no admission requirements for children entering at the pre-primary level (born between 2024 and 2022). An initial assessment in English and Maths may be requested for students entering at the primary level. We accept students from 2 years old (or turning 2 before December for a September intake) until Year 6 (grade 5; CM2). The school year runs from early September to early July. Malherbe International School has an open admissions policy and accepts applications throughout the academic year, including mid-year admissions. Tuition fees are detailed on the site. Children hoping to join the Spanish section program for 3-5 year olds must have a Spanish language background. Application requirements include: Application form; 2 last school reports for children entering Year 1 to Year 6 (Grande Section-CM2); Teacher evaluation form from current class teacher for children entering Year 1 to Year 6; Sample of applicant's in-class writing for children entering Year 3 to Year 6 (CE1 to CM2). We do not have any admission requirements for children entering at the pre-primary level. For local primary school applicants, a short assessment of English and Mathematics may be requested. Application package can be downloaded. Applications are open for the 2026-2027 school year. The small class size enables the school to accommodate many educational backgrounds and can be tailored in some circumstances to give extra support if necessary, including varying academic levels. Decisions about the admission of children with special educational needs are taken by the Principal based on the extent to which the school is able to meet the student's needs. Individual assessments are often required, and the school may request a recent Educational Psychologist's report to ensure that the school can meet the student's needs.
