Notre-Dame Les Oiseaux was established in 1929 at the Château de Verneuil by the Congregation of Notre Dame. The Château's history dates to the 16th century and includes ownership by French noble families; Alexis de Tocqueville spent his adolescence there, and François-René de Chateaubriand was welcomed there while under Tocqueville ownership. In 1929 the Château was purchased by the Congregation of Notre Dame, and the Church itself is recognized as a historical monument. Notre-Dame International High School was developed on the Notre-Dame Les Oiseaux campus as an American school in France, making the campus international.
NDIHS hosts orientation on the first day to help new students adjust to the environment. Graduation ceremonies are a regular feature, with memories shared in photos from multiple years. The school offers on-campus clubs and social activities, including Model UN, choir, and a range of arts and sports clubs, and these activities involve collaboration with French peers. Off-campus excursions and trips to major Parisian sites, such as the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay, are part of the school calendar.
Notre Dame International High School is a day and boarding private program in the Paris region that delivers a United States high school diploma through an American curriculum taught in English. The school welcomes students aged 15 to 18 and offers bilingual English–French faculty, with English-language courses across Science, Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Science and Foreign Language. All other courses are taught in English by the American program, while French language courses for non-native speakers are run by Notre-Dame Les Oiseaux in French, alongside additional French, Art and Physical Education taught in French. Daily French language study helps international students integrate. The campus on the Notre-Dame Les Oiseaux site covers 14 hectares shared with French peers and features modern libraries, science and computer labs, and a dormitory wing. On the grounds are sports facilities, clubs and activities, including Model UN, ECO CLUB Potager and programs, all encouraging leadership and intercultural collaboration.
