Founded in 1971 in Lyon by Pierre and Marie-Claude Vezin, Ombrosa is managed by a non-profit association under the 1901 law. It was fully integrated into the French school system and developed tools to stimulate student fulfillment, with a focus on bilingualism leading to plurilingualism. In 1987, the first Upper Secondary graduates earned the Baccalaureate, and in 1993 a Savoy campus opened in Voglans. In 2005 the school joined the IB World School network to offer the International Baccalaureate, expanding its international diploma options. Today Ombrosa offers a mix of national and international curricula and supports language study across up to four foreign languages.
Ombrosa operates four campuses in Lyon and Savoy: Campus of Ombrosa Caluire, The Nursery in Lyon 6, Voglans, and Le Bourget du Lac. Languages offered include French, English, German, Japanese, Spanish and Chinese within a bilingual/plurilingual program.
