Founded in 1994, the International School of Monaco is an independent, co-educational, not-for-profit day school. It offers all four IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP, CP) and is an IB World Continuum School. In August 2020 ISM signed a historic collaboration with King's College School, Wimbledon, as part of its aim to be among the best in Europe. The school moved to a brand-new campus in Testimonio II in the Larvotto district, inaugurated by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. The 30-year milestone was celebrated with a Gala on December 10, 2024.
ISM's community includes students and families from over 60 nationalities. Community events include TEDxYouth conferences and the International Schools' Speech Contest, as well as university fairs such as the North American Universities Fair. The PTA contributes to school life with events and fundraisers throughout the year, including international-themed meals, seasonal markets, and social events for parents and staff. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is offered as an accredited centre at ISM.
The PTA Committee is made up of one parent representative per class who serves as a point of contact for the parents and represents the class at all PTA meetings. The PTA organises a broad program of events and fundraisers for the ISM community, including Halloween and Christmas parties, a Winter Market, a Spring Market, a Summer Fête, bake sales, cocktail events for parents and staff, and coffee mornings for new parents. The ISM Youth Piano Competition is organised by the ISM Performing Arts Department in collaboration with the PTA. The PTA has sponsored events such as TEDxYouth@ISM, with involvement and sponsorship acknowledged in ISM communications. The PTA's contributions are highlighted in ISM annual reports.
