A bilingual German-English environment is supported by native speakers who provide additional exposure to English. The German-English school library offers a wide selection of non-fiction, mysteries, and stories, with all classes visiting weekly during English or German lessons. Donations fund library acquisitions, and the Förderkreis coordinates lunchtime and after-school language activities. The International Picnic is planned to be revived in May 2026.

The Förderkreis is a volunteer association funding native-speaking staff, the school library, lunchtime activities, and extracurricular clubs. Membership fees and donations support life and learning at the Charles Dickens Primary School. Funding from the Förderkreis pays for library staff and library acquisitions, and supports enrichment activities such as language programs. International Picnic events help build community and celebrate cultural diversity.
Students from 3rd to 6th grade form the School Parliament to represent peers and discuss topics important to school life. Representatives are elected and learn to discuss, vote, find compromises, and develop joint solutions as part of democratic education. The Parliament connects with external participation opportunities such as the Children and Youth Parliament of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The School Social Worker supports the Parliament and student councils, fostering participation and leadership.
The school playground is designed as a dynamic landscape that encourages rope games, climbing, swinging and balancing, with four ping-pong tables and a tartan playing field. Lunchtime clubs include basketball, football, dance, slacklining, waveboarding, and more. The school hosts running events such as Charlie's Run and the Dickens Mile Run.
