Language Provision

English is the primary language of instruction at ISA. All students are expected to learn German, with classes tailored to native speakers and German as an Additional Language (GAL) learners. There is mother tongue support for students whose first language is neither English nor German, including languages such as Japanese, Spanish, and Russian; IB Diploma candidates may study their first language as a Language A course. English language classes for adults are offered to parents.

International School Augsburg (ISA) is a K–12, English-speaking day school in Germany offering an IB-based education alongside Cambridge IGCSE in upper grades. The school serves students aged 3 to 18 and uses English as the language of instruction with EAL support. ISA began in 2005 with 65 local students and now welcomes more than 350 learners from 38 nationalities, reflecting a diverse community. The curriculum combines the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), the IB Diploma Programme (DP), and Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9–10, preparing students for global study worldwide. A Gersthofen campus opening in 2027–2028 will house 550 students on an 18,000 m² site featuring flexible learning pods, purpose-built laboratories, a double gym hall, and dedicated spaces for art, music, and performance. The campus aims for carbon-neutral operation with green roofs and solar panels. Extracurriculars include Art, Music, MUN, CAS, ECAP, and service partnerships, emphasizing wellbeing, sustainability, and intercultural understanding.
